Does DriveBook Lock Me In? Contracts, Cancellation, and Commitment
No one wants to be trapped in a platform they can't leave. Here's DriveBook's honest position on commitment, cancellation, and what happens if you want to leave.
One of the most common concerns instructors raise before signing up to any SaaS platform is: "What if I want to leave?"
It's a fair question. Some platforms make cancellation difficult, charge exit fees, or lock you into annual contracts that you can't leave mid-cycle. Here's DriveBook's actual position on all of this.
No Long-Term Contracts
DriveBook operates on a monthly subscription. You pay month by month. There is no annual contract requirement, no 12-month lock-in, and no penalty for cancelling.
An annual billing option is available if you prefer it (at a discounted rate), but it's optional — not mandatory.
Cancelling Your Subscription
You can cancel at any time from your DriveBook dashboard under Subscription → Billing. Use the "Manage Billing" button to access the Stripe Billing Portal, where you can cancel auto-renewal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access until that date.
There are no cancellation fees, no exit interviews you have to complete, and no obligations to negotiate with.
What Happens to Your Profile After Cancellation
When your subscription ends:
- Your public booking page is taken offline (students can no longer book you through it)
- Your dashboard access remains in read-only mode so you can always view your historical data — bookings, clients, earnings, and documents. This access is retained indefinitely.
Your student data is not deleted. Read-only access to your records is permanent regardless of subscription status.
What Happens to Students With Active Packages
If students have remaining lessons in packages they've purchased, you'll need to honour those commitments (or refund them) before closing your account. This is not a platform policy — it's simply the right thing to do and a legal obligation to your students.
DriveBook will not close your account while there are unfulfilled package lessons without confirmation that you've handled those students appropriately.
The Honest Sales Position
Platforms that lock users in with contracts are often doing so because they're not confident enough in their product to let users leave freely. DriveBook's view is the opposite: if the platform genuinely helps your business, you'll stay. If it doesn't, you should be able to leave without penalty.
The goal is to earn your continued subscription every month, not to trap you in one.
