How to Use DriveBook as a Student: Booking, Tracking, and Managing Your Lessons

DriveBook is a platform that connects learner drivers with qualified driving instructors in Western Australia. If your instructor uses DriveBook, here's exactly what you can expect as a student — from booking your first lesson to tracking your progress toward your PDA.

Finding an Instructor

If you don't yet have an instructor, DriveBook's public search lets you find verified instructors near you. Enter your suburb or postcode, and you'll see a list of available instructors with their rates, vehicle type (manual or automatic), languages spoken, and student reviews.

Each instructor has a profile page with their bio, teaching approach, and availability. You can compare a few instructors before booking.

Once you find someone who looks like a good fit, you can book directly from their profile.

Booking a Lesson Online

Booking on DriveBook is straightforward. From your instructor's booking page:

Choose a date and time from their available slots
Select the lesson duration (usually 1 hour or 2 hours)
Enter your pickup address
Pay for the lesson online using your wallet balance

Available slots reflect your instructor's real availability — they're updated in real time, so you won't accidentally book a slot that's already taken.

Once the booking is confirmed, you'll receive a confirmation with all the lesson details: date, time, pickup address, instructor name, and price.

The Student Wallet

Payment on DriveBook works through a wallet system. You load credit into your wallet, and the lesson cost is deducted automatically when you book.

Loading credit is done via card payment. You can load the exact amount for a single lesson or load a larger amount if you're booking multiple lessons in advance.

The wallet balance is visible in your student dashboard at all times. You can see exactly how much credit you have remaining and top up whenever needed.

Lesson Reminders

DriveBook sends automatic SMS and email reminders before each lesson — typically 24 hours in advance and again a few hours before the lesson. You don't need to worry about forgetting a booking.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, check your instructor's cancellation policy, which is displayed on their profile. Cancellations within the policy window may incur a fee, which will be deducted from your wallet.

Progress Tracking

After each lesson, your instructor can log feedback and notes about what was covered. You can see this in your student dashboard: which skills have been practised, what your instructor observed, and where you're up to in preparation for your PDA.

This is useful for keeping track of your progress across lessons, particularly if lessons are spread over a longer period and you want to remember what was covered last time.

Leaving a Review

After completing lessons, you can leave a review for your instructor on their DriveBook profile. Reviews help future students make informed decisions and help good instructors build their reputation.

If your instructor was helpful, patient, and prepared you well — a short, honest review makes a real difference to their business.

What If Something Goes Wrong?

If there's an issue with a booking — your instructor doesn't show, there's a payment problem, or something isn't right — contact DriveBook support directly. Support is accessible from within your student dashboard.

Disputes about cancellations or charges are handled through the platform, so there's a clear record of what was agreed and what happened.
