How to Optimise Your Instructor Profile to Get More Bookings

Small changes to your DriveBook profile can have a significant effect on how many visitors convert into bookings. Here's what actually moves the needle.

Your booking page has one job: convert a visitor into a booked student. Most profiles underperform not because the instructor is poor at teaching, but because the page doesn't give visitors enough to trust and commit.

Here's what to change, in rough order of impact.

1. Add a Professional Photo (If You Haven't)

This is the single highest-impact change for profiles without a photo. Students choosing between two instructors with similar reviews and prices will almost always choose the one whose face they can see.

You don't need a photographer. Outdoors in natural light, plain background, relaxed expression. Take ten photos and pick the best one.

Also add a car photo. Showing the vehicle the student will learn in removes uncertainty and adds a professional touch.

2. Rewrite Your Bio to Be Specific

Read your current bio. Count how many specific facts it contains. "Experienced instructor with a passion for teaching" contains zero.

Specific facts that build trust:

  • Years of experience and where
  • Types of students you specialise in
  • Suburbs you cover (by name)
  • Your car (make, model, transmission)
  • Languages spoken
  • Test routes you know well

Replace every vague claim with a concrete one.

3. Set Accurate Service Suburbs

Profiles that accurately list every suburb they cover appear in more search results. If you cover ten suburbs but have only listed three, you're invisible to students searching in the other seven.

Check your availability settings and make sure every suburb you genuinely service is listed.

4. Price Transparently

If your pricing isn't visible on your profile, students who want to know your rates have two options: contact you (friction) or move on (lost booking).

Set your hourly rate and any packages in your dashboard. Display them clearly. Students who see your price and choose to book are pre-qualified — they know what they're paying and have accepted it.

5. Collect Recent Reviews

A profile with ten reviews from three years ago looks less active than one with ten reviews from the last three months. Review recency matters to students and to Google.

After every student passes their test, ask for a review with a direct link. One consistent ask per successful student is all it takes to maintain a steady stream of recent reviews.

6. Activate Your AI Receptionist

Students who visit your profile outside business hours and can't immediately get a response often don't wait. Activating DriveBook's AI receptionist (available on PRO and above) means anyone who calls your number gets a response immediately — even at 9pm on a Sunday.

This is particularly useful for instructors whose students tend to book in the evenings or on weekends.

7. Keep Your Availability Current

Nothing damages conversion more than a student selecting a slot, going through the booking process, and discovering the slot isn't actually available. Keep your availability settings updated — especially after adding regular students, taking on a new client, or changing your working hours.

8. Respond to Reviews

Responding to reviews — both positive and critical — signals engagement. A thoughtful response to a critical review ("I'm sorry this wasn't the experience we both wanted, please get in touch so we can sort it out") demonstrates professionalism and often recovers more trust than the negative review cost.

The Honest Check

Visit your own booking page as if you're a nervous learner driver searching for an instructor for the first time. Ask yourself:

  • Does this person look professional and approachable?
  • Do I know exactly what I'll pay?
  • Can I see when they're available?
  • Do their reviews convince me they're good at this?
  • Can I book right now without any friction?

If any answer is "not really," that's where to start.
