How the DriveBook Student Wallet Works

The DriveBook wallet lets students add funds and pay for lessons without entering card details every time. Here's how it works and why it simplifies the booking process.

Paying for each lesson separately — entering card details every time, waiting for confirmation, keeping track of individual transactions — adds friction to what should be a simple process.

The DriveBook wallet is designed to remove that friction.

What the Wallet Is

The DriveBook wallet is a prepaid balance attached to a student's account. Students add funds once and use that balance to pay for lessons, packages, and other services without re-entering payment details each time.

Think of it like a transport card or a café loyalty card — you load it up and spend from it as needed.

How to Add Funds

Students add funds from their DriveBook dashboard under Wallet. They enter the amount they want to add and pay by card. The funds appear immediately in their wallet balance and are available to use straight away.

Students can add any amount — enough for a single lesson, a package of lessons, or a larger prepaid balance if they prefer to manage it less frequently.

Paying for Lessons

When a student books a lesson, the cost is deducted automatically from their wallet balance. They don't need to enter card details at checkout. The booking is confirmed immediately.

If their wallet balance is insufficient for a lesson, they're prompted to top up before completing the booking.

Benefits for Students

No repeated card entry — Students who book regularly don't have to re-enter card details for every lesson. This is especially useful for students on a lesson package who book frequently.

Visibility of spending — The wallet shows a full transaction history. Students can see exactly which lessons their balance has been used for and how much remains.

Commitment without complexity — Adding funds to a wallet is a natural way to commit to a learning plan. A student who loads $400 onto their wallet is invested in using it — which supports consistent lesson scheduling.

Benefits for Instructors

Payment is always ready — When a student has a wallet balance, their booking is paid immediately. There's no "I'll pay when I get there" or delayed bank transfer.

Reduces refund complexity — If a lesson is cancelled, the funds return to the wallet rather than requiring a card refund. This is faster and simpler for both parties.

Fewer booking friction points — A student with a wallet balance faces fewer steps to book, which means they're more likely to book promptly rather than deferring.

Wallet Credits

DriveBook occasionally offers promotional credits — bonus funds added to a student's wallet through referral programmes or platform promotions. These credits appear in the wallet alongside funded balances and can be used for bookings in the same way.
