What DriveBook Actually Does: A Plain-English Overview for Driving Instructors
DriveBook is an all-in-one platform for Australian driving instructors — online booking, payments, AI phone answering, student tracking, and more. Here's what each feature does and who it's for.
There are a lot of tools marketed at driving instructors — booking apps, payment processors, scheduling software, CRMs. Most of them were built for other industries and awkwardly repurposed.
DriveBook was built specifically for Australian driving instructors and driving schools. This article explains what each part of the platform does, in plain terms.
Online Booking
Students can find your profile, check your availability, and book a lesson without calling you.
When a booking is made:
- Your calendar updates immediately
- The student receives an SMS confirmation
- They receive an automatic reminder before the lesson
- Their lesson appears in their client dashboard
You can configure your working hours, lesson durations, pickup radius, and languages spoken. Students only see slots that match your actual availability.
Who this replaces: A phone and a diary. Or a generic booking tool that wasn't built for driving lessons.
AI Phone Receptionist
DriveBook includes an AI phone answering service that answers calls on your behalf. It checks your availability and creates bookings in real time.
The AI handles the call, sends confirmation to the student, and you see the booking in your dashboard without having done anything.
It works 24/7 — including during lessons, evenings, and weekends.
Who this is for: Any instructor on PRO and above who misses calls during lessons or wants to capture bookings at times they can't answer the phone.
Payments and Wallet
Students pay upfront through DriveBook. Their credit goes into a wallet on the platform. When a lesson occurs, the amount is deducted.
You can offer lesson packages — 6, 10, or 15 hours — at a discount. Students who prepay for packages are more likely to complete their full course with you.
You receive payouts weekly to your bank account or Stripe account.
What you don't have to do: Chase payments, handle cash conversations, or reconcile who owes you what.
Offline and Cash Booking
For students who book by phone or pay cash, you can create manual bookings in your dashboard (available on PRO and above). These appear on your calendar and in your earnings reports — so your records are complete regardless of how each lesson was booked.
Student Progress and Lesson Feedback
After each lesson, you log a brief note in the student's profile — what was covered, what to work on, an overall score. Students can see this in their dashboard.
Over time, each student has a clear record of their progression. This builds retention, reduces "where did we leave off?" conversations, and helps you structure lessons toward the PDA.
Your Personal Booking Page
Every instructor gets a booking page at their own subdomain — yourname.drivebook.com.au. This page shows your profile, pricing, reviews, and booking form.
On PRO plans and above, you can apply your own logo and brand colours. On Studio and Business plans, you can connect your own domain — so students visit yourschool.com.au and book through your fully branded page.
Reviews and Reputation
Students leave reviews after lessons. These appear on your public booking page and are searchable by prospective students.
The more genuine reviews you accumulate, the easier it is for new students to choose you over an instructor with no track record. DriveBook prompts students to leave reviews at the right moment — after passing their test or completing a lesson package.
Subscription Tiers
DriveBook has four tiers: Basic, PRO, Studio, and Business. Higher tiers unlock custom branding, custom domains, lower commission rates, and priority support.
All tiers include a free trial so you can test the platform before committing.
